biking to make up for a slip up this past weekend...

Had another great bike ride this morning.

I went 11.3 miles in just over an hour. WOW!

That's my all time farthest so far!

I think I like this bike riding thing. :D

My HR was real good, too. The highest it got was 182, but it was only there for just a short while. Most of the time it stayed around 160. And I burned over 700 calories.

Smokin'!

I ran out of gas half way through, but stopped and rested until my heart rate got back down to around 135-140 and then I had enough energy to make it the rest of the way home.

What a ride!

I overdid it a bit this past weekend. Sonny's BBQ has put their nutritional information online and I was able to realistically figure my points for what I'd eaten and man is their food bad for you. I had the BBQ chicken, which is essentially a quarter of a smoked chicken without any BBQ sauce. IT WAS 18 POINTS!! Can you believe that??!! I thought I was doing good by eating chicken that wasn't marinated or smothered in sauce. Boy was I wrong. Now, granted, I didn't eat the skin and that probably took off a few points. So maybe realistically it was 15 points. But then there was the green beans 3pts, corn on the cob 2pts plus a little butter, maybe another 3 pts (overestimating). I had a salad bar with about a tablespoon of their chicken salad and maybe 2 tablespoons of their crab salad, so add another 5-8 pts. What a horribly high in points meal!

Then yesterday we went to Pizza Hut for lunch, but I didn't have dinner. Well, actually, I had a bowl of cereal for dinner so I think it balanced out.

Though a high fat weekend, it was worth it (sort of). I'm sure my ride this morning compensated for it. Hopefully.

Well, off to eat some high-protein cereal and soy milk and then off to work.

Have a great day!!

By the way, did you guys check out some of the blogs that people put in my comments from yesterday? I added a couple of them to my list of blogs I like. Keep 'em comin'.

thanks for the comment... i'm not sure HOW that person found me, i've gotten random emails before but have never accepted an offer... i think these PR people search the web for blogs and send out 1,000s of emails to see who will respond... what a job that would be, right? ;o)

Sounds like you have a great thing going with the bike ;) And even though you may have eaten higher than you wanted to in points, you were trying to keep it low. It could have been a lot worse. Have a great week ;)

Thanks for your posts! I was inspired enough by your bike riding to actually test ride a Trek 7100 this weekend, and plan to go tomorrow to get fitted and purchase it! Can't wait to ride. Even joined www.mapmyride so I can find the mileage for local routes and plan some rides later this week. Keep up the good work. Chicken is still a lot better of a choice than most beef items.

Hey, I went to Sonny's on Saturday night too! I wonder if we were there at the same time. I tried the BBQ Pulled Chicken but have no idea of the points since they don't list it yet because it's new. So I was estimating it at 5 points, but I think it might be more after what you found. For my sides, I chose the Baked Sweet Potato, and even though it has 0 grams fat and 11 grams of fiber, it is still 293 calories, so it's 5 points! How is that? I also had the green beens like you did (2 points), plus 1 slice of garlic bread (4 points). If my chicken was as high in points as yours, my dinner was my whole day's worth of points! Ridiculous! I'm glad they put their nutritional info online though so at least we know how bad it is.

Congrats on your awesome workout! I did the Core Conditioning class offered at the Y every Monday morning at 10am. We only had about 8 people in the class (it's new). The instructor said if she doesn't keep at least 10 in the class, they will cancel it. It's a tough workout on your core (abs, sides, back, legs, arms, chest). She does 1/2 hour of cardio, and then 20 minutes of floor work, ending with 10 minutes of stretching. My heartrate got up to 166! And when I was doing some the core floor work it was in the 140s! Overall, I burned about 300 calories during the class which I'm happy with. Tomorrow is my favorite class - step! The instructor is great as she throws in some fun routines.

The bike rides you go on are awesome. All the riding must've cancelled out a good portion of the Sonny's cals, surely.
I'm checking in with my weight loss this week:
I'm down another 1.6 lbs and now weigh 271.4 lbs. I've lost a total of 4.2 lbs in 3 weeks. I'm really happy about this.
Have a successful week!

Great job on the bike ride! Tha tis awesome! It also sounds like you did a pretty decent job managing your food intake, even with some high caloric meals!

Keep up the great work!
